The main focus of the department is to keep the company strong, successful, functional, and free of costly litigation from lawsuits through sound policies and actions for handling personnel matters.

An effective Human Resource Department of a company can therefore contribute greatly to the overall company direction and the accomplishment of its goals and objectives. However, such contribution cannot be achieved except the people running the department are skilled in the art and science of human resources management.
